Inspection under light: Look at the fabric outdoors to see whether there are any defects, such as, colour differences in the patterns or uneven surfaces. Good fabrics will have zero visible faults when checked out under light.
Washing test: It is understandable that you do not want to wash the fabric prior to purchase; however, you may inquire the sales attendant with regards to the fabric’s washing capabilities. High quality cotton-polyester fibres are such that they do not fade or lose shape on the shirt fabric even after several wash days.
